Being brought up a few miles from London Heathrow & RAF Northolt, Aviation has been a major part of my life and a massive influence from my dad. Taking photos from an early age using one of dads spare Canon T90’s, I eventually had my first photo published in the Dutch magazine Scramble at the age of 7, which was a Citation landing at Heathrow, TC-TOP. If I wasn’t at Heathrow or Northolt, I was out chasing Soviet exotica at Luton, Stansted or anywhere else it showed up. This passion of Russian/Soviet aircraft has stayed with me through my life and it is still my main interest now, although I will photograph any aircraft that is in front of me, especially aircraft used for skydiving duties, unusual/rare aircraft and helicopters.
I served 8 years in the Royal Air Force being based at RAF Brize Norton & RAF Cottesmore working on VC-10’s, TriStar’s, C-17’s, Harriers and anything that dropped into Base Hangar at Brize… I also did a 4 month stint in the Falklands during 2006 working on the Tornado F.3 of 1435 Flt. I then left the military in 2008 and went into the film instustry, where I carried on working with paint, but in a different manner on the film sets… I did get to work on a helicopter during World War Z by giving it a full respray, which sadly wasn’t real, but a full size fibreglass replica donated to the film from Eurocopter.
